The Maths Assessment

At Get Smart we fully appreciate that every child is an individual and learns and processes in different ways. Coaching and tutoring are totally different from classroom teaching and we at Get Smart are experts in appreciating that this really does matter to a child’s progress and the effectiveness of the tuition program. That is why it is really important to understand your child’s level of understanding, get a grasp of their learning style and current knowledge before commencing with tuition. Tutoring can be planned specifically for your child’s learning style, level, gaps, and personality.  Once we complete the assessment we then develop an individualised tuition plan (ITP)  tailored to your child’s needs and learning style. We use an organic approach when teaching and supporting your child so your child’s individual teaching needs can be met. No child’s learning program is the same and homework is tailored for the individual.

The end goal is for your child to thrive in school and this can only happen if the right support is in place and key concepts are understood. We often have to fill the gaps in their knowledge first to ensure that they can make progress in school. Sometimes we also need to ensure that your child’s knowledge and skills be extended above and beyond what they are currently doing in school to ensure they are stretched, inspired, engaged and remain confident and independent learners. We are experienced in teaching children who need additional support as well as those who are gifted and talented.

We’re delighted to be able to offer a totally FREE maths assessment to help you understand where your child needs the most help.  We’ll evaluate their number, shape and space, algebra, worded problem solving and general numeracy skills and work out where the focus should be. If you find the centre is a good fit at that point and you want to book some maths sessions then that’s great, there’ll be no pressure – we just want what’s best for your child.
